Drug Free Moore Co Receives
Moore County Community Foundation Grant
DFMC will receive $1,000 from the Moore Co Community Foundation to promote Project ALERT, a science-based middle school-aged curriculum to prevent substance abuse in Moore County youth organizations this year. This marks the first time DFMC has received a grant from the Foundation and is looking forward to implementing the skills-based program in various youth groups such as 4-H and Moore Buddies.
Thanks to Karen Wicker, board member of Drug Free Moore County and the Moore Prevention Task Force, the grant was submitted in May. Implementation will be accomplished with assistance from Emily Nicholson (also a board and task force member)and Moore County Prevention Consultant with Alcohol and Drug Services, Inc. Emliy is a certified trainer in Project Alert, which was developed by the Hilton Family Foundation and a proven strategy.
