Family Day-September 26
The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University released a national survey on American attitudes on substance abuse (14th edition) on parents and teens. This year’s survey reveals that teen who regularly use social networking sites are at increased risk of smoking, drinking, and using drugs. The survey finds that compared to teens who in a typical day do not spend any time on a social networking site, those who do are five times likelier to use tobacco, three times likelier to use alcohol, and twice as likely to use marijuana. CASA sponsors the annual Family Day, which is an opportunity to have parents and their children enjoy a dinner together and to demonstrate the effectiveness of open communication and support to stay drug free. This year, use the new household contract, that is signed by parents (or caring adult) and youth. See the links below. In Spanish and English.
